„Every second child in Poland has a faulty posture. A significant percentage of them have been diagnosed too late, and hence their treatment isn’t very successful.” It is not enough to say ‘don’t stoop’.

A fragment from an educational campaign of the foundation of the Polish private television Polsat „Give the Sun to Children”

„Static disorders in children and adolescents (faulty postures, scolioses) and consequently  vertebral overload disease in adults constitute one of the most important and difficult problems of the temporary medical rehabilitation and orthopaedics. In highly developed countries faulty postures are very common, and vertebral overload disease (80-90% of adult population) can be considered civilization-related. Based on screening examinations it is assumed that nowadays the percentage of faulty postures in children in the province of Lower Silesia (south-west of Poland) amounts to 75% of the population, of which 32% of the examined children have already had fixed disorders in vertebral statics. It is known that affections mentioned above when left untreated and neglected, without introducing an appropriate prophylactic programme, can soon result in severe dysfunctions of motion organ, which often requires a specialist treatment, sometimes even an operative one. The costs of such specialist treatment for one patient are being assessed at a few dozen thousand Polish zloty whereas the result of the treatment is not always entirely satisfactory. The prophylactic steps when taken at proper time as well as an early rehabilitation of children and adolescents with diagnosed functional disorders of body statics are extremely important as far as prevention of later affections of motion organs are concerned. Thus, the problem is a quick, objective and repeatable diagnostics of motion organ disorders.”

A quotation from a faulty posture prophylactic programme for school-age children proposed by the Health-Insurance of the Polish city Łódź.

Trying to meet the immense and important needs the company CQ Elektronik System offers an apparatus for an entirely non-invasive, precise and objective diagnostics of body posture. The appliance works on the basis of photogrammetric method taking advantage of the Moire effect, which is recommended by specialists as a method eliminating x-rays in a number of cases. Shortly speaking, it consists in making by means of a video camera a computer photograph. Thanks to special optical system the computer draws a three-dimensional picture of the patient’s back and analyses over 50 parameters in the  frontal and sagittal plane. The apparatus is especially useful for children screening examinations in schools, and its small dimensions makes its transport very easy. The data saved in digital form on hard disc can be analysed, compared, registered and statistically edited.

The best recommendation of our appliance are its users. Within last four years we have installed over 50 appliances across Poland. We estimate that thanks to their work approximately 100,000 children have been examined. But it is only a drop in the bucket of needs.

We hope for system solutions to be developed that will make possible to diagnose precisely all children, at least those in the periods of increased growth (between 7 and 8, as well as 12 and 13 of age), especially before puberty period, and will ensure proper and early corrective procedures.

Looking forward to successful cooperation I remain

Yours very truly
